Being its principal one-person executive body and a superior of all the staff and students, the Rector heads the University. The Rector is assisted by Vice-Rectors for Research, Research Personnel Development, International Cooperation, Student Affairs and Teaching, and by the Chancellor. At the faculty level, the positions of the Rector and Vice- Rectors correspond to those of the Dean and Vice-Deans. The Dean is a superior of all the employees and students at the faculty.

Collective bodies are the Senate for the University, and the Faculty Board for the faculty. The Rector, acting as the chairman, Vice-Rectors, Deans, Vice-Deans and elected representatives of the University individual communities compose the Senate. The Faculty Board is made up of the Dean (the chairman), Vice-Deans, professors and doctors habilitated employed at the faculty, as well as elected representatives of the faculty remaining communities.

Key issues concerning the University and the faculties come under the jurisdiction of respective collective bodies, which execute their legislative powers passing resolutions and establishing particular committees and teams.
